Odin Sphere: King Gallon by Amelius Odin Sphere: King Gallon by Amelius
A fuzzy-wuzzy version of the undead king of Titania!

I had an even more miserable time with finding good reference for this guy than when I made Darkova! I tried assembling the sprite, but it's like a puzzle from hell. Instead of having all the pieces be the actual size, a lot of the repeated parts are stretched or enlarged, and it's very hard to tell where some parts go. I was completely baffled by what composed Gallon's rear-end and back. Not even playing the level and cutscenes with him in it over and over helped much to compose the sprite! But it did help me sort of fill in the blanks on this pipecleaner version. Looking at that clustercuss sprite sheet did help me make the individual pieces like his heart and the ribs and all the guts you can see in his necks :)

And yes just like my other Darkova, he has teeny-tiny back legs and feet! A lot of characters look like that in Odin Sphere. I love eeet <3
Blarh, but his ear is flopped in the photo, pretend it's standing up the way it's supposed to! His jaw is askew in another, but that's because they're hinged rather than firmly attached on there. I used some markers to get the colors I needed, and goose feathers were absolutely perfect for his little ear-thingies.

So now there are officially 2 fan arts for him! This and [link] !

God he was hard to fight the first time around. Dx I hated when he stuck his heads in the ground! Especially when he only had one head left and did it constantly so I couldn't really hit him! That's amazingly built. O-O That's all out of pipe cleaners ne? That's so epic!

Titania is the name of the kingdom that he used to rule in the game (Odin Sphere) don't wanna spoil too much just in case you ever decide to play it!

Yup, in fact I've done quite a few with just pipecleaners. A lot of them were Looney Tunes characters and others like the Animaniacs, I think the only ones with just pipecleaners I have posted here currently are Deadpool and a kitty being held by another monster. Pipecleaners-only can be pretty limited with their color selection though, so I usually have to use some marker on them.

thats not tru

at mikuls neur my school thay have paks of pipe cleaners that have diferent shads of the same couler

and plus u can use 3mm pipe cleaners to add on some finishing tuches insted of marker.

the point is that i have made some ausum and elaberut things out of pipe cleaners sens i was 7 and not ones did i need to use a pen or a peas of paper

Oh, but it is true!
I've made elaborate things with just pipecleaners too, it's just that when I want it to look accurate to the thing I'm making I have to change the color of the pipecleaner itself. A 3mm pipecleaner wasn't going to give the skulls on this figure the green tint it had on the sprite, for example, and since I ran out of off-white pipecleaners (which are no longer available here) I had to add grey to light-yellow pipcleaners on his hands. I did use thin ones those for the tendons on his hands and neck though.
We have a Micheals too, and Hobby Lobby and Pat Catan's and Joanns, and I've even tried searching online, but none of them have mint green, peach, skin-tones, an ivory/yellowish off-white, salmon, certain shades of brown,or many other hues that I need (which they made at one time). The only flesh colors I got were from Ebay! :( I've been working on these from the same age and I've made hundreds of these as well, whether with multi-media details or solely pipecleaners. Maybe I'll post my all-pipecleaner figures so you can see what I did with pipecleaners only :)

Thanks! I think like 5 hours or so. I finished it in under a day, with a lot of distractions (like having to stop for long stretches to play the game for reference, and defending the thing from a hyperactive kitten who kept charging at it)

Aw, it shouldn't! We all start off small, and I wouldn't quite be at this point if I'd not been at it for so long :D There's pipecleaner art on this site that puts mine to shame, because they're so precise and clean and I just mash and twist until it looks like something! XD
Don't let those things discourage you though, just look at it as something to aspire for if you like making pipecleaner art!

Yep I did! Took about 5 or more or less hours (I was going pretty fast on this one, because of stress! I needed something to do and drawing wasn't working!)
How long did it take in general? Well, I've been doing these for about, say...*calculates* well since the early 90's! I started out pretty small on them with simple twist-tie kitties and doggies, then when I got a hand on actual pipecleaners, I made characters from Tiny Toon Adventures, Bugs Bunny, later on Animaniacs. I also started making some of my own characters up at the time too. Most of the fanart ones are lost (the last Looney Tunes one I made was Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner for a friend)but I still have some of those in this gallery:[link]
As for how hard it is, depends on the figure! This one was a little difficult mostly because the references were hard to decipher, but with a clear picture and the actual colors I need a pipecleaner sculpture isn't too difficult. It's all about trying to get the shapes down before adding the details!

Surprisingly fast compared to most of the ones I've done, I got him finished in under a night pretty much. Which is good considering that I had to take long pauses to go play the game for reference and kept having to fight off a kitten! Probably altogether, 5 hours, more or less? I was going pretty fast, I was angry about someone who was incredibly rude to me so this project was done for my nerves!

Well, I sorta did! I put some hanger wires in the front and back legs and along the inside of his back. It makes posing a little harder, but at least I can get him to stay upright on the right surface :D

I can imagine. I had a similar problem once when I made a spinosaurus out of wire.

I had to splay the legs to the point he almost looked like a cheerleader AND elongate the tail for balance. If it wasn't for a block of wood as a post, he's had never been able to handle an art show like he did for that year. XD
