I was doing a lot of research on dual-language speakers and a common thing I read was that when it comes to shock, surprise and anger, people find if comfortable to swear in their first language rather than their second, though it's 50-50 odds sometimes if they'll mix it in with their second! Also, Mexican-Spanish slang is great, I really enjoy looking into other regional dialects and how they differ from each other even within the same language type. I'm sure most people aware that Spanish spoken in Spain is different from Latin American Spanish, but even within the same countries words may carry very different connotations! There's several words that people use in a friendly manner that carry great offense in another region. You can't just grab any slang and think it's good everywhere!

A trap to avoid when writing bilingual/multilingual characters though is dropping words in at random as substitutes for words you think the character doesn't know. It's generally ok when the word is close enough to another, but I tend to see a lot of people break language structure in an effort to display the character's cultural background through dialogue. Like "Que happening?" Just don't!!

Zeno goes to Spanish usually when he's surprised, but when he drops a word like "amigo" in casual conversation it's on purpose.
